The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Qatar has announced the outcome of a high-level meeting held in Doha between Ambassador Habibu Awesi Mohamed and Sheikh Abdullah bin Faisal Al Thani of Shaheen Energy and Oil Production, aimed at advancing oil and gas investment opportunities in Tanzania.
The meeting reviewed encouraging results from a recent technical assessment conducted in collaboration with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC). Shaheen Energy indicated a potential investment of around USD 500 million, while both sides acknowledged the need to address key technical and commercial data gaps. A confidentiality agreement has been signed to support secure information sharing and further evaluation.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation, enhancing coordination, and accelerating progress toward investment decisions within 2026. The Government of Tanzania reiterated its readiness to support investors and maintain a conducive environment for the development of the energy sector.
