Kilimanjaro, Tanzania - A team of nine tourists from Al Wakra Qatar Academy has arrived safely in Tanzania for their third Mount Kilimanjaro expedition. The group landed at Kilimanjaro International Airport at approximately 7:35 a.m. on June 16, 2025, with Qatar Airways from Doha.  The delegation is led by Mr. Abdirahman Hussien Handule, the Head of Student Affairs, and includes six students, one teacher and one parent.

This remarkable journey is part of the Academy’s broader commitment to outdoor education, leadership development, and cross-cultural engagement. It is a continuation of the successful collaboration between the Embassy of Tanzania in Doha and Al Wakra Qatar Academy, following two previous Mount Kilimanjaro expeditions. Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by Mr. Godwill Kyegeko, a Senior Foreign Service Officer from the Department of Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dodoma.

From June 16 to 25, 2025, the group is set to undertake the iconic climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. In addition to the expedition, the team will immerse themselves in the rich natural and cultural heritage of the region with planned visits to Tarangire National Park, Masai Boma cultural village, Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee plantations in the Kilimanjaro region.

As part of their commitment to community engagement, the group will also visit a local government primary school in Moshi Rural District, where they will participate in a social and cultural exchange with Tanzanian students and school administrators.

Mr. Handule expressed his excitement about the journey, stating:
“This expedition not only challenges our students physically, but also offers them a transformative educational and cultural experience. We are proud to continue this tradition of global learning and service.”

The Al Wakra Qatar Academy’s Kilimanjaro expedition reflects a blend of adventure, education, and intercultural understanding - core values that continue to inspire its students and staff alike.
