H.E. Habibu Awesi Mohammed, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the State of Qatar, held a courtesy call with H.E. Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to the State of Qatar, at Tanzania House, Doha. The meeting was held at the request of the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to explore prospects for strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Discussions focused on the establishment and formalisation of diplomatic relations, trade and investment, agriculture and agro-processing, mining and mineral resources, livestock and halal meat processing, tourism, private-sector engagement, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also expressed interest in facilitating reciprocal, fact-finding and business visits to identify practical opportunities for cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of Tanzania and Afghanistan in deepening dialogue and exploring new avenues of cooperation, with a view to fostering stronger diplomatic, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties.
The engagement marks a positive step towards building a foundation for expanded cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
