The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) to advance Tanzania–Qatar development cooperation, focusing on priority projects, financing and private-sector participation. Discussions included the USD 89.3 million specialised hospital project in Dodoma and priority projects in Zanzibar, with emphasis on developing bankable proposals.
The meeting identified energy, food security, value addition, ports and logistics as key areas for cooperation, alongside health, education and women and children’s development. Opportunities were also explored for greater participation by Qatari investors and operators in financing, construction, operations and technical cooperation.
Tanzania and QFFD will work with relevant institutions to develop a strategic project pipeline, strengthen project preparation and explore blended financing with multilateral and private-sector partners. The engagement is expected to advance high-impact, investment-oriented Tanzania–Qatar cooperation in line with Vision 2050.
