The United Republic of Tanzania and the State of Qatar have successfully concluded the third round of negotiations on an Agreement for the Elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Avoidance and Evasion. The discussions took place in Doha from 24–27 August,2025 under the auspices of the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania and the General Tax Authority of the State of Qatar.
The Agreement is designed to boost trade and investment between the two countries by preventing the same income from being taxed twice and by strengthening measures against tax evasion and avoidance.
The Qatari delegation was led by Mr. Yousef Abdulla Al-Dosari, Director of Tax Treaties and International Cooperation at the General Tax Authority, whereas the Tanzanian side was headed by Mr. Juma Ahmed Mkabakuli, Assistant Commissioner for International Cooperation in Tax Matters of the Ministry of Finance.
The draft text of the Agreement was reviewed, agreed and initialled with all substantive issues resolved. Negotiations were held in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding.
Both sides agreed to undertake the necessary internal consultations ahead of the formal signing of the Agreement at a mutually convenient date.
