H.E. Habibu Awesi Mohamed, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the State of Qatar, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mohammed Badr Al- Sada, Assistant Secretary General for Relief and International Development Sector of the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) at the QRCS Head Quarters in Doha, to explore opportunities for strengthening humanitarian and development cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in healthcare and medical missions, disaster risk management, water supply and sanitation, volunteerism, capacity building, and community development. The Ambassador was also briefed on QRCS's extensive global humanitarian operations, which span 12 international offices, highlighting the Society's significant experience in delivering humanitarian assistance and sustainable development programmes worldwide.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen institutional cooperation through the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), including the initiation of discussions towards the negotiation and possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between QRCS and TRCS in the upcoming working visit of Hon. Deus Clement Sangu (MP), Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office – Labour, Employment and Relations, during his forthcoming visit to the State of Qatar, scheduled for 5th – 9th July 2026. Both sides also agreed to identify priority humanitarian projects and maintain close technical engagement to facilitate their implementation.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment of the United Republic of Tanzania and the State of Qatar to deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing humanitarian programmes that enhance community resilience, improve access to essential services, and contribute to Tanzania's sustainable development.
