The Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen humanitarian and development cooperation between the United Republic of Tanzania and the State of Qatar. The signing ceremony, held at the QRCS Headquarters in Doha, marks a significant milestone in advancing humanitarian partnership between the two countries.

The MoU was signed by Ms. Lucia Pande, Secretary General of TRCS, and H.E. Mohammed Al-Humaidi, Assistant Secretary General for Support Services, on behalf of H.E. Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashim Al-Sada, Secretary General of QRCS. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Juvenal Lema, Minister Plenipotentiary representing the Ambassador of Tanzania to Qatar, Eng. Rejea Samwel Ng'ondya, Managing Director of SOUWASA, senior officials from both institutions, and other Government of Tanzania representatives. Following the ceremony, the delegation toured the QRCS Disaster Management Information Room and Emergency Disaster Centre to learn about its global disaster monitoring and emergency response operations.

The MoU provides a framework for cooperation in healthcare and medical missions, disaster risk management, water supply and sanitation, volunteerism, capacity building, community development, and technical cooperation.

Building on discussions held between the Embassy of Tanzania and the leadership of QRCS on 29 June 2026, the partnership is expected to strengthen institutional collaboration, support joint humanitarian programmes, and enhance the delivery of humanitarian services for vulnerable communities in Tanzania while further reinforcing the longstanding friendship between Tanzania and the State of Qatar.
