Mr Pinda,who is here for official duty held talks with his Qatar counterpart, Sheikh Abdulla Nasser Al Thani, and among other things, agreed to cooperate in the employment area.
The Premier said that Qatar needed a large number of workers in various sectors thus it was a good opportunity for Tanzanians to make full use of the opportunity.
“Currently, there are Tanzanians working here but they are very few. After signing the agreement, we will know exactly the number of workers needed and how they can make it here,” he said.
He noted that there are a number of investments in Hotel, manufacturing and other sectors which required many workers. “Tanzanians will also acquire technological skills here,” he added.
Apart from cooperation in employment, Mr Pinda stated that the two countries will also combine forces in Agriculture, fisheries and livestock keeping.
Mr Pinda affirmed that the two countries will also cooperate in gas and oil subsectors as Qatar has high expertise in the area.
“This country (Qatar) is also advanced in science and technology. We must utilize such knowledge properly for our country’s benefit,” he expounded.
He noted that the countries will also form a joint team to analyze areas to start with. Mr Pinda was flanked by various government officials from Tanzania including, Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Development, Dr Titus Kamani; Zanzibar Minister for Agriculture and Tourism, Dr Sira Ubwa Mamboya.
The delegation also included the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Mahadhi Maalim; the Deputy Minister for Energy and Minerals, Mr Charles Kitwanga and the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives, Mr Godfey Zambi.
Other dignitaries are Mbeya and Mtwara Regional Commissioners, Mr Abbas Kandoro and Ms Halima Dendego respectively, two members of parliament, Mr Aeshy Hilaly and Ms Amina Makilagi and representatives from Tanzania Private Sectors Foundation (TPSF) and Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
