Doha, Qatar
The United Republic of Tanzania and the State of Qatar have explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in preventing and combating corruption following an institutional engagement between the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) of Tanzania and Qatar’s Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA), held in Doha on 21 October 2026. The Tanzanian delegation was led by Ms. Sharifa Bungala, Assistant Director of PCCB.
The discussions focused on promoting institutional integrity, transparency and accountability, with both institutions exploring mechanisms for enhancing cooperation. Key areas considered included the development of a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), exchange visits and information-sharing to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing between the two institutions.
The engagement marked an important step towards strengthening Tanzania–Qatar institutional relations in the fight against corruption. Both sides agreed to undertake further technical consultations to develop the proposed MoU, define areas of collaboration and establish appropriate implementation arrangements, subject to the necessary institutional approvals.
